Impressionist painter
I'm Nicholas Hayter, a full-time artist based in Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand. With over 14 years experience as a professional painter, I create original oil paintings that celebrate this countries natural beauty.
I’m drawn firstly to the colours of nature, followed closely by the interplay of light and shade. The green hills and beautiful rivers and coastline, provide endless opportunities to capture these vistas in vibrant paint.
Nicholas Hayter Fine Art
Nicholas paintings are more than decorative pieces - they are windows into moments of beauty, tranquility, and wonder, often inspired by special locations that resonate with both artist and viewer.

"Nick responded quickly and called to our place to create the image we were looking for. He also explained options for the framing and timelines to when we would receive the completed artwork. The final artwork really blew us away and was exactly what we hoped for to the minute detail. We really recommend dealing with Nick and can vouch for the finished article and lines of communication. We have no hesitation recommending Nick."

“Buying a painting from Nick was a lovely and exciting experience. There was no rush or pressure just a wonderful experience of being surrounded by great art (I think I would like to have owned at least half the studio!!!) I enjoy my painting every day. I have, in the past, bought other paintings from Nick, and every one is a joy and a treasure.”

“Nick Hayter’s paintings genuinely strike a chord with me. Living overseas, they bring back a real sense of home, the familiar colours, scenes and atmosphere feel both comforting and inspiring. On top of that, Nick is an absolute pleasure to deal with. He’s professional, responsive, and makes the whole process effortless. The care taken with packaging is exceptional, and shipping to the UK has always been smooth and well-organised. I couldn’t recommend both his work and his service highly enough.”
